These captivating picture cards are designed to increase engagement, draw attention to the speaker's mouth, increase awareness of the articulators, promote early speech development, and establish prosody (the melody of speech). Set C contains 24 different silly sound effects that target oral-facial movements, simple syllable shapes, and prosody. Included are a list of multi-sensory cues and strategies that can be used to prompt the child when engaging with the Silly Sounds cards.
Cari designed the Silly Sounds cards to be used with preverbal and minimally verbal young children with suspected childhood apraxia of speech. They can, however, be used with all children who are learning to talk, regardless of the diagnosis. Even children who are not experiencing any speech and language delays will enjoy interacting with the Silly Sounds cards.
