Sound effects are a fun and effective way to help young children learn to talk by: developing vocal imitation skills, transitioning from pre-speech to speech sounds, moving the articulators, developing prosody (the melody of speech) and transitioning from automatic to voluntary sounds. Whether making sound effects during play time or when reading books, pre-verbal children need to practice vocalizing. This form will help parents, therapists, and educators track the child’s first intentional sound effects. On this form, sounds are divided into 4 categories:  animal sounds, vehicle sounds, exclamations, and other sound effects.

*This form can be downloaded one time and then copied and used over and over again.
